Special Forces Assistant Operations and Intelligence Sergeant (18F). Major duties. Employs conventional and unconventional warfare tactics and techniques in intelligence collection and processing. Trains and maintains proficiency in all major duties. Provides tactical and technical guidance to the Detachment Commander, indigenous and allied personnel. Plans, organizes, trains, advises, assists and supervises indigenous and allied personnel on collection and processing of intelligence information. Performs intelligence and operational duties when task organized in preparation (isolation) for special missions and during operations. Writes operation plans and combat orders, and supporting annexes. Conducts briefings, briefbacks and debriefings. Establishes intelligence nets, conducts agent handling and prepares agent reports within the operational area. Capable of establishing identify through fingerprinting. Processes prisoners of war, writes and establishes security plan and performs security duties. Maintains all classified documents in the operational area and establishes destruction and evacuation plans. Provides area specialist assistance to the detachment, Special Forces, U.S. Army, sister services and other agencies.

Special Forces Communications Sergeant (18E). The Special Forces communications sergeant employs conventional and unconventional warfare tactics and techniques in communications. Trains and maintains proficiency in all major duties. Organizes trains, advises and supervises indigenous and allied personnel in the installation, utilization and operation of radio equipment, radio nets, standard and expedient antenna systems and wire communications. Proficient in and the instruction of the installation, operation and employment FM, AM, VHF, UHF, and SHF radio communication systems to transmit and receive radio messages in voice, continuous wave (CW), and burst code radio nets. Responsible for the establishment and maintenance of detachment tactical and operational communications and communication equipment. Plans, prepares and assists in the communications targets portion of the area study, prepares and assists in briefings, brief-backs and debriefings.

Supporting the overall efforts of One World Terrain by providing collection, analysis, and dissemination capabilities to Military Units through the use of UAS and photogrammetry.

Assists in the performance of reconnaissance operations. Employs, fires, and recovers anti-personnel and anti-tank mines. Locates and neutralizes mines. Operates, mounts/dismounts, zeros, and engages targets using night vision sight. Operates and maintains communications equipment and operates in a radio net. Operates in a NBC contaminated area. Constructs field expedient firing aids for infantry weapons. Performs as a member of a fire team during a movement to contact, reconnaissance, and security, an attack, defense, situational training exercises and all infantry dismounted battle drills. Processes prisoners of war and captured documents.Leads an infantry team in combat operations, providing tactical and technical guidance to subordinates and professional support to both superiors and subordinates in the accomplishment of their duties. Leads, supervises, and trains subordinate personnel. Calls for and adjusts indirect fire. Evaluates terrain and selects weapon emplacement. Controls organic fires. Installs and recovers anti-handling devices on anti-tank mines and electrical and non-electrical demolition charges. Supervises construction of hasty fortifications and receipt, storage, and issue of ammunition. Records operational information on maps. Receives and implements combat orders, directs deployment of personnel in offensive, defensive, and retro grade operations. Requests, observes, and adjusts direct supporting fire. Evaluates terrain and supervises the emplacement of sighting and firing all assigned weapons. Uses maps and map overlays, performs intersection and resection, and determines elevation and grid azimuths. Leads a fire team during a movement to contact, reconnaissance and security, an attack, defense, situational training exercises, and all infantry dismounted battle drills.
