The Aspiring Adviser Program is a 12 month professional development program designed to give the knowledge, skills and experience to move into a financial planning role. The program is tailored to provide on the job learning through structured rotations across the Advice business. From March to May 2013 I conducted a work experience placement of over 100 hours with the QLD Dept. of Main Roads & Transport. I worked with the Economic Evaluation Team in the Portfolio Investment & Programming section of TMR. The CBA Team is a group of economists which conduct quantitative analysis of proposed projects as part of the overall project evaluation process within TMR.The early stages of my placement was focused on understanding the economic basis and theory behind the cost benefit analysis work done, and learning how to utilize the proprietary TMR software (CBA 6.1). The culmination of my time was contributing towards a formal project evaluation document presented to management. In addition to assisting with writing and editing the document, I took a role in the case specific excel modelling in support the quantitative analysis of the report.

This position was a four week paid internship with Ernst & Young in the Transaction Advisory Services service line. While assigned to Transaction Support I participated in contract analysis of an M&A target company as part of a due diligence engagement. I gained exposure to the M&A, Valuations, and Corporate Restructuring sub-service lines during my internship as well, spending two weeks working on a client site for a voluntary administration engagement for Corporate Restructuring.

In this role I manage the relationships with current sponsors. During the year I will confirm corporate attendance at events as required and also utilize relationships to provide speakers. At the end of the school year I renew sponsorship contracts and attract new sponsors where possible. Society funding comes primarily from this roles sponsorship activities.

This junior management role in the five star hotel environment included directly supervising a shift of around seven staff on duty. Beyond direct supervision of staff it also included responsibilities for training, coaching, rosters, discipline, performance reviews and management, and mentoring of Front Office staff. Additionally this role is also the Manager on Duty of the hotel.Being the Manager on Duty includes general oversight of hotel operation across all departments, specifically where department heads are not present. It also included emergency management, same day yield management, inventory control, and client relations. My responsibility was to ensure client satisfaction or service recovery in the case of complaints, excepting any instances of legal liability or special circumstances; I was expected to be the highest point of contact for any complaints or requests from clients.During this role I assisted Police with an investigation, and from this I came to be relied upon for my knowledge of the hotel CCTV system. I frequently assisted the Security Manager to review and capture footage and also helped in preparing and assisting during numerous V.I.P. stays.

Started as Guest Services Agent before promotion in early 2008.-Directly reported to Front Office Manager and Executive Assistant Manager-Responsible for the Front Office department - including rostering, annual leave, ongoing coaching & training, staff reviews and discipline-Directly responsible for implementation of Hyatt corporate standards for phones staff-Role was also Duty Manager, so responsible for handling complaints, and incidents like first aid & theft, and overall daily hotel operation in co-ordination with other Departmental Managers
