Independent ProjectElectric Skateboard Nov 2015 - Apr 2017Santa Cruz, CaliforniaMy passion for board sports and electric vehicles inspired me to take on a new challenge, to build my own electric skateboard. The goal was to design and build an electric skateboard comparable to current models on the market. The outcome was three different models with a range of 6 miles, a top speed of 22mph and regenerative braking. -Designed lithium polymer battery systems to work with electronic speed controllers(ESC) and D.C. Brushless motors. -Created a 6 cell 22.2 nominal voltage battery system powering a 150a ESC, a and 280kv brushless motor. -Built a 12 cell 44.4 nominal voltage battery system powering a castle creations 160a ESC and a 149kv brushless motor.-Learned the processes involved with building an electric skateboard i.e. soldering, parallel vs. series wiring, and gearing.
