Merrill Lynch Jun 2015 - Present
    Jacksonville, Florida, United States
  • Bank Of America
    Vp Document Generation/Automation Technology
Bank Of America Mar 2013 - Mar 2015
    Jacksonville, Florida Area
Lead technology team responsible for support and development of document generation software used by the Bank of America’s commercial loan business and other applications. Working across technology and LOB departments, we continue to expand automated document generation for multiple downstream applications. This has been accomplished by developing sophisticated services used to seamlessly map data to template variables allowing for straight through rendering of finalized documents eliminating manual intervention. This required a complete rewrite of in-house software, a multi-version upgrade of Hotdocs (vendor document generation software) and a complete migration from physical MS 2003 to a state of the art virtual environment.Key Initiatives:• Simplified automated document generation by developing sophisticated mapping and UI services that provide real-time ability to identifying and map “upstream” data to the appropriate template variables during document assembly• Managed across departments, both technology and LOB, to develop and deploy software that allowed for expanded automated document generation.• Led the document generation team, in coordination with other applications, in development/deployment of the first E-signature functionality provided to the banks commercial loan customers.• Significantly improved application stability and redundancy with migration of software from physical (MS Windows 2003) to a state of the art virtual environment.• Led the rewrite of in-house software and upgrade of vendor software setting the stage for strategic use of document automation by any downstream application. Prior to the upgrade, we had a minimum of 1 or 2 help desk tickets a day, post deployment (Oct 5, 2014) help desk tickets are non-existent.• Managed the development of a service that performs specific functions post rendering to add a coversheet, barcodes and header/footers to documents in a package..
  • Vice President E-Discovery Technology
    Vp E-Discovery Technology
    Vice President E-Discovery Technology Jan 2007 - Mar 2013
    Jacksonville, Florida Area
As manager, I was responsible for development, resource planning and budget for Bank of America’s E-discovery technology space. This included day to day support as well as E-Discovery initiatives for the firm ensuring compliance with regulatory, legal and government agencies. Work closely with the Office of General Council and E-discovery team to identify, develop and deliver solutions to close compliance gaps in the E-Discovery and legal hold space while adding significant cost savings. I also filled the role of Scrum Master in support of our Agile development. Key Initiatives:• Successfully championed the move from waterfall to Agile Scrum/TDD development process resulting in faster delivery of essential quality functionality to the business. We have become the model for other groups now embracing Agile.• Managed development of our suite of state of the art systems of which our primary E-Discovery application received 3 US patents with more in review.• Re-organized our change/release management process/infrastructure to automate code deployment between environments, ensure consistency across and dramatically improving the quality of deliverables.• Led the development of the firm’s centralized E-Discovery application used to initiate, track and automate the collection of hundreds of TBs of sensitive documents related to legal matters and investigations. • Coordinated various projects, such as the 120 Recommendation, developed to close gaps related to legal and regulatory agencies.• Implemented a suite of vendor products such as: Attenex, Encase, Atlas and Team Connect to assist operations with the fulfillment of discovery requests.
  • Merrill Lynch
    Vp Mutual Fund Trading Systems
    Merrill Lynch Jan 1998 - Jan 2007
    Jacksonville, Florida Area
Direct IT resource planning, budgeting and initiatives for the mutual fund trading systems with focus on the migration of high volume, ageing and obsolete applications to state of the art flexible solutions. Hire, train, and retain technical expertise required to implement the strategy. Utilized flexible development processes to reduce time to market of a quality product. On-going success was built on a intimate understanding of the business and maintaining a close working relationship with our business partners.Key Initiatives:• Managed the largest mutual fund merger in history as Merrill Lynch proprietary funds moved into the Blackrock mutual fund company. Planning and preparation took several months while the actual migration had but hours to be completed.• Led the development of the lot tracking system for all of Merrill Lynch mutual fund processing. Implemented in 2000, the system is still core to the processing of mutual fund trades on a daily basis.• Directed multi-year/multi-million dollar re-architecting strategy across all departments. This led to decommissioning multiple costly legacy applications resulting in significant dollar savings.• Introduced dramatic cost saves by consolidating redundant systems and eliminating redundant data while dramatically increasing data accuracy• Implemented process improvement (PMI/CMM Level 3) thereby increasing product quality while reducing time to market• Replaced “silo” approach to systems and development with a “process” approach which yielded resource savings due to availability of common knowledge pool• Implemented expandable/scalable systems to support extreme data/processing requirements (multi-billion row DB2 tables)• Introduced production application improvements resulting in significant savings in processing and data storage• Reduced labor cost by identifying opportunities for time and material consultants or fixed price outsourcing
