I was over multiple process unit areas including support for Fluidized Catalytic Cracking Unit, Heavy Coker Gas Oil/Diesel/Naphtha Hydrotreating, Light Cycle Oil Hydrocracking, Heavy Naphtha Reforming, Hydrogen Plant/PSA, Waste Water and Utilities units.Responsibilities included day-to-day troubleshooting, analytical problem solving of large data sets, generating and presenting written monthly reports to refinery leadership team for review on unit performance, KPIs, yields, and catalyst activity.I was also a Mentor in Valero's Internship Program. Acted as a mentor to Valero Interns in the Process Engineering Department during the summers of 2017 and 2018. Provided real world projects, refinery hands-on experience, and career development for Valero Interns.

Process Engineering Intern main accomplishments include:• Performed hydraulic calculations, which included NPSH, total head, and differential pressure to specify, install, and implement a new pump into an Alkylation process area.• Utilized Aspen Hysys and Aspen Exchanger Design & Rating to design a shell & tube heat exchanger for the DHT unit. Quantified fuel cost for heaters within the unit and estimated a yearly savings of $300,000 with the implementation of this new exchanger.• Directly involved with the $1.5 billion Hydrocracker project. Observed catalyst loading and tray inspections of the reactors within the unit. Analyzed and recalibrated pre-existing spreadsheets to fit the given conditions for the Hydrocracker startup.• Wastwater debottlenecking project; Worked with Environmental Engineering department to determine which cooling towers are allowed to bypass the Waste Water Treatment Plant. Designed bypass lines, performed hydraulic calculations, generated mass balances for cooling tower blowdown rates, and worked with operations to help accommodate the addition of the Hydrocracker project.
