I recently graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania, Class of 2024, majoring in Biology with a concentration in Molecular/Cellular Biology and Health and Societies with a concentration in Health Care Markets and Finance. I also graduated with minors in Chemistry and Spanish and Honors in my Biology major for my thesis. My academic interests include the molecular and cellular biology of disease and the economic, sociocultural, and ethical aspects of health care delivery and innovation. As I begin my two gap years before medical school, I am interested in further exploring my passions for clinical research and volunteering, medical anthropology and sociology, and patient care. I am staying in Philadelphia and have begun working as a Clinical Research Coordinator as part of the Penn Acute Research Collaboration through the Harrison Scholars Program, performing clinical research in trauma surgery and emergency medicine related to massive hemorrhaging, traumatic brain injury, and cardiac arrest. In August, I received my complete EMT certification (NREMT), I am volunteering with Springfield EMS to further gain experience in healthcare and give back to the Philadelphia community during my free time. I also am volunteering at Puentes de Salud, a clinic for undocumented Latinx immigrants, as a medical interpreter, in the food pharmacy, and giving presentations on topics like nutrition and diabetes.
