When I took my first real programming course as a freshman, I instantly fell in love with it. The work felt less like work and more like a hobby, creating something, flexing my problem-solving ability, infinite possibilities limited only by my imagination. This was simultaneously a field as rich as any other academic subject, and a talent to develop, vital for every aspect of modern living. I had found my passion and made it my mission to master it. The idea of having the power to develop the next huge piece of software or solve the world’s biggest issues from anywhere, with my laptop, enamors me. A computer and a programming language is enough to create the next big thing in any field one can dream of. I have made the most of my relatively short time focusing on programming, consuming all coding material available to me, optimizing the best and cleanest versions of each school project and lab, and ensuring that whatever team I work with submits the best possible version of an assignment. I'd love to work for a company that allows me to solve problems while also refining and developing my skills.In Summer 2023, I got the opportunity to work in-person, full-time as a software engineering intern at Terran Orbital in Melbourne, Florida. In my short time there, I was able to apply my skills to solve all kinds of problems in novel ways. Examples of projects I completed include improving a Python utility to automatically generate documentation for various software components, implementing code for diverse satellite components, developing and updating thorough unit tests utilizing the mocking framework for multiple hardware and software components, and participating in every stage of the software engineering process, including activities such as sprint planning, code review, ticket generation, Git version control, and daily standup meetings.When I’m not working, you may often catch me on a road trip, hiking, cheering on my city and school’s sports teams (Go Gators!), playing home run derby on a local baseball field with my friends, or coding for fun.
