Hi everyone! I am Hayden, a Year 2 student who is pursuing a Diploma in Aerospace Electronics in Singapore Polytechnic. I took part in the Singapore Youth Flying Club as a student pilot to expose myself to the aviation industry.Growing up, I found the best part of going on vacation was the flight itself. I would come to the airport hours in advance just to see the many varieties of plane be it a widebody or a narrowbody. Knowing that I would like a career in the aviation industry, I therefore took emphasis on my Math and Physics and also to work on my soft skills such as Critical thinking and Communication. After which when my foundation was strengthened over in Primary and secondary School, I decided to enroll into Singapore Polytechnic for a Diploma in Aerospace Electronics.Since being in the course, I learnt the basic principles of engineering, where i learnt on different circuits and components which will be applied onto later modules, I also learnt to use C++ for mini projects like arduino to move a robotic car and be applied into a real world context in the form of a project on watering systems. In year 2 i took on advanced modules which were a continuation of my year 1 modules like Aircraft Electrical Systems (AES), Aircraft Servomechanisms and electronics, and I took an elective on Unmanned Aircraft Flying and Drone Technologies to have see a different side on aviation. I also went on a school trip which was Learning Express Jakarta for a sustainable innovation project in which along with my team of SP students and local students of Jakarta, we built a prototype which solves a problem based on our target users needs and insights. This cultivated a sense of empathy and allows me to appreciate what i have currently and to always stay humble. Also, I served in the National Cadet Corps as a Staff Sergeant, later on a Cadet Officer after my Secondary School. I was in charge of the new cadets from Secondary 1 in which I took on the role to be their mentor and introduce them to the corps . I have taken alot from my 4 years serving my school in which I gained leadership, discipline and teamwork. With these skills and experiences that I have obtained, I hope to apply these skills when I enter the work industry. All in all, with the current skills and experience that I have, I would like to enter the aviation Industry and aim to be a commercial pilot and long to make the sky my second home."Focus on the journey, not the destination" Greg Anderson
