I believe in community news, curiosity, media literacy, paper and pen, and coffee for all. Now serving as Associate Director of Communications/managing editor of Forward magazine at the ISU Foundation. I launched as a community reporter in Iowa, with experience in arts/entertainment, municipal government and education reporting at the Indianola Record-Herald and the Charles City Press. I served as the technology, innovation and entrepreneurship reporter at the Des Moines Business Record, where I led the launch of the innovationIOWA e-newsletter and technology beat from 2018-2021. From 2021-2023 I oversaw strategic communications and grants/development activities for Ethnic Minorities of Burma Advocacy and Resource Center, which separated into three different organizations and rebranded as Refugee & Immigrant Voices in Action in 2023; my work at RIVA included managing the visual rebranding, website development, and donor communications during the transition period. Outside of storytelling, I’m passionate about traveling, reading, dogs, podcasts and news/media literacy education.
