2013 - Investotel Hotel prototype Lead design co-ordination of a prototype for a new hotel brand. The first prototype was successfully completed in May 2013 with extremely positive feedback from the client, and a second prototype with mass production is due to commence in the final quarter of 2013. 2012 - Park Inn, Woolwich Due for completion in the third quarter of 2013, this hotel is being developed on a brownfield site, forming part of the regeneration scheme carried out by Berkley Homes as part of their Royal Arsenal regeneration programme. 120 of the 130 rooms were erected as V-system modules lifted into position over a 2 week period. This ensured programme constraints could be met and quality was of the highest standard. As a result of the site being directly over the new Crossrail tunnel, the site was vibro-compacted with stone columns which support a raft foundation to spread the building loads sufficiently to negate any possible impact of the tunnel below, rather than using traditional pile foundations. Management of traffic was very carefully planned around the Olympics and Paralympics in 2012, The site lies a few hundred metres from the shooting events venue for the Olympics at the Royal Artillery Barracks and as a result, severe traffic restrictions were in place, co-ordinated closely with Transport for London and the London Borough of Greenwich. Two shipments of V-system modules were co-ordinated to arrive on site once Olympic restrictions had been lifted, and were successfully installed, leaving the main contractor with minimal works to complete on site.
Project Co-Ordinator
Responsibility for co-ordination of design information on all projects. Designed & implemented document control systems & procedures. Liaised between clients, design teams, subcontractors & manufacturers for all aspects of design co-ordination.Projects:Gatwick Manor RoyalA 6 storey 204 bedroom hotel near Gatwick airport. Each floor comprised 19 modules, erected one floor-a-day.Premier Inn, Trafford ParkAn 88 bedroom hotel extension comprising of 3 floors of modules & containing a lift shaft built onsite through prepared openings in the modules. The ground floor of the original building was taller than the upper floors and this was replicated in the extension. To keep all modules a uniform height, spacer frames sat on top of the ground floor modules & corresponded with the required level at 1st floor. Close co-ordination ensured the aperture formed for the lift shaft was accurate & enabled easy installation of the shaft on site.Premier Inn Citadel Way, Hull75 modules used to form a 5 storey 125 bedroom hotel on top of 7 levels of multi-storey car park. Traditional elements were reliant on the inherent strength of the modules to provide lateral stability. Stair cores extended reaching several metres above the roof of the building. Stability of these cores is possible utilising the strength of the V-system modules.Travelodge, Heathrow Central307 bedrooms over 7 floors. At the time of completion, it was the largest modular hotel in the world. Directly under the main flight paths to Heathrow airport, the lifting plan & construction sequence was carefully co-ordinated with the BAA. The acoustic requirements were far in excess of a typical build due to aircraft noise. A concrete slab was laid on the top of the completed stack of modules to deflect noise & the acoustic isolation between each unit ensured the requirements were fully met. Even with lifting restrictions, the project was completed 8 weeks earlier than if built traditionally.
