Whilst priority is given to Aboriginal families with children 0-3 years of age; Aboriginal families with children up to 5 years of age and young people aged 8-14 years will also be prioritised. The role of the Aboriginal Family Worker is to ensure that high quality services are delivered to Aboriginal children/young people and their families within a child-focused practice framework. The Aboriginal Family Worker will provide direct support to families and ensure best practice principles are followed in all aspects of casework. All duties are to be delivered in a manner consistent with service guidelines and Barnardos Australia’s philosophies, policies and procedures. The role includes ensuring data collection and record keeping is up to date and in keeping with the programs contractual requirements. In addition to this the Aboriginal Family Worker will actively participate in the overall development of the Family Support programs across Barnardos South Coast to ensure that a high standard of service is provided to all families and children in need and that the required service standards and contractual requirements are upheld.
