Ian Sheldon, my father, (in photo) retired in December 2016 due to Alzheimer’s disease. My sister Gemma Courtney (Financial Director) and I are third generation; which we feel is a real privilege and currently run the company. We specialise in the manufacture of precision turned parts. with a skilled team of around 25. Certified with ISO 9001 Quality Management System since June 2004. Quite an achievement.We offer a premium quality service for all types of turned parts. To allow for a wider variety of possibilities; we are insistent on having machinery capable of a scope of sizes and using the most advanced tooling currently available. Catering for industries ranging from ones such as leisure to industrial, marine to automotive and many more. We are a 'one stop shop' subcontractor.In recent years Witon has invested in new machinery to stay at the forefront of cutting edge technology within the manufacturing field, with a major investment of over £7,000,000 in Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines, to assist with the production of top grade turned components. Investments in Software is also of importance to Witon, with investments in data management software fully capable of maintaining traceability throughout all processes and CAD software to aid the achievement of quality, precision and speed.Bit of history:Originally in 1948 my Grandfather (Len) started the business formerly known as the ‘Wembley Screw and Engineering Company’ based in the exhibition grounds, Wembley, North West London. I wish I knew more details about back then, the history intrigues me! So moving forward to 1970 -My parents who were married and in their early 20’s, moved the business as part of a Government redevelopment scheme, with some funding, to relocate to its current location; Barnstaple, North Devon, in the hope of expansion and bigger premises. It was renamed H. L. Sheldon Ltd (my grandfathers name) at that time and my grandparents followed later. My Father (Ian Sheldon) ended up running the business like it was his own and ended up buying it some years later.
