For more than 25 years I have immersed myself in the school transfer process. At the moment my teaching clubs prepare 160+ children a week for the Kent Test 11+ and ISEB Common Pre-test. And my Sevenoaks School tutor group has had so much success that last year I found myself personally responsible for 10% of the school’s Year 7 intake.Yet every year, and with every child, I learn more and have more details and insider tips to share. Teaching is my absolute passion and specifically preparing children to pass hugely challenging exams. I have put in the leg-work over the years - studying the detail of each paper, how the exam has evolved from year to year, observing the style of the question, the layout - even the fonts used. Next I have matched all of this to the best resources available (and created my own when I’ve found them lacking). And on top of this I have had long chats with past pupils and their parents, learning not just about the exams themselves but how they felt at each point and what tips made their lives easier. All of this knowledge has fed into the programmes and strategies my company offers students and their families.Here’s a little bit about me:Along the way I’ve worked at an exciting inner-London primary school where I learnt many of my best strategies for raising standards (at the heart of my Year 4 club teaching now), and a discrete little prep school in Connaught Square (where I prepared students for Westminster, St Paul’s and City of London as part of my day-job). Post school-teaching I set up a national newspaper with my husband, and produced Kids Bags for Virgin Trains. Now I am a hugely proud wife, and mother to three amazing boys - 2 went through Judd (our local super-selective grammar) and one to Sevenoaks School. We’ve got two hairy girl dogs too - the gorgeous Hebe and Delilah.
