I am a local San Diego Southern California architect and owner of Simbiotek Design Lab, an architecture firm with projects in Single family and Multi-Family ADUs, residential remodels, restaurant design and commercial projects. I enjoy designing for the local context and culture of San Diego and Southern California, creating meaningful and valuable connections to my projects and clients.www.simbiotek.comI was formerly an Associate for higher education and athletics facilities as well as California community college master planning projects at Gensler in San Diego.I was formerly co-chair of the local Women in Architecture group and was formerly a Design Resilience leader for the Community Studio in San Diego at Gensler. I also have volunteered with AIA National on the Small Firm Exchange Board.Previously I also worked for HMC Architects as a Design Leader on civic, justice and education projects. While living in Seattle, I worked for Coates Architects on Bainbridge Island as a Marketing & Branding Coordinator.Before starting my professional career, I graduated with an accredited Bachelor of Architecture degree from Cal Poly Pomona and have a LEED Green Associate credential as of August 2011. During my time there, I worked on a number of projects including Palomar College Building T expansion, San Marcos K-8 School, San Diego Women's Detention Facility, Glen Ivy Spa Master Plan, Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District master plan and the Pathways to College K-8 Charter School among others. I also worked on a series of projects through the construction document phase and DSA closeout. My interest in large scale projects lies particularly in the effect projects can have on the human scale and environment as a cultural influence to a region. -

During my first employment term with HMC I worked on a large range of projects including higher education, K-12 schools, civic and healthcare designs. I was utilized for graphic design as another strong point and have made three-dimensional models while also revising plans, sections, and details. During this term, I took a Revit learning course in the summer of 2009 and completed construction documents on a K-8 school using Revit 2010. I also coordinated with new student interns as well as managers, business development and interior design staff on a daily basis. More importantly I participated in client interviews and have been the designer on multiple projects including an Aeronautics training school, library project, and playground addition. -

Architectural InternHenry Woo Architects Nov 2006 - Aug 2007Beginning at the end of the 2006 through the summer of 2007 I worked a mixture of part time and full time for Henry Woo Architects. They were very helpful in teaching me about DSA projects for local school districts. I assisted in plan revisions, site visits, design for a community center and various other office maintenance tasks. Working at Henry Woo gave me a chance to become familiar with the client/architect relationship as well as how to present ideas and work well in a team environment.
