Adonai UK is a UK registered charity established to support the work of Adonai Family Uganda - a Ugandan NGO that provides shelter and an education for vulnerable children and young people. It also supports needy families by providing training courses to help them become self-sufficient. I have visited AFU several times to visit projects supported and spend time working with teachers and managers to help develop their skills, enthusiasm and knowledge. As Admin officer of Adonai UK I am responsible for producing the Annual Report; producing publicity and information materials; liaising with the Director of Adonai Family Uganda; communicating with our database of sponsors and supporters; preparing agendas and minutes of meetings etc. All trustees, myself included, give talks and presentations to promote the work of AFU.

I have taught in 3 primary schools in Hampshire and have experience across Key Stage 2. I have been part of the management team in all 3 schools and have held the positions of Deputy Head teacher and Assistant Head teacher. In these roles I was responsible for the day to day management of staff including pastoral care and monitoring of teaching practice. I was instrumental in school development planning, curriculum development, parent liaison, and many other areas of school life including being the staff rep on the PTA and a member of the board of Governors. I mentored newly qualified teachers and student teachers.

Spotlight Centre, Basingstoke, Hampshire

As Duty Manager I helped to set up the Spotlight Centre which was established to give all children the opportunity to enjoy the performing arts through affordable activities and inclusive performances. My role included preparing the timetable of courses, managing the instructors and volunteers, and being the point of liaison between them and the trustees of the charity.
