Ensure compliance of testing as stated in department’s policy procedure guideline and work instruction.Ensure all work conforms to health and safety guidelines of the institution. Performs hematologic and related tests on blood specimens within a clinical laboratory for use in diagnosis and treatment of patients.Receives specimens and performs a variety of clinical tests including blood cell counts using automated techniques.Performs testing for abnormalities in blood coagulation and platelet function. Performs “sickle screening” and High Performance Liquid Chromatography for Hemoglobin variant Prepares stains, prepares samples for staining, performs specimen staining, microscopically evaluates stained specimen to determine fetomaternal hemorrhage. Evaluates laboratory test data as to necessity for further processing of specimens.Communicates essential and critical laboratory data as rapidly as necessary for optimum patient care.Performs variety of control procedures such as internal and external QC schemes by active participation in Quality Management Program of the department which is essential to ensure that laboratory testing is accurate, timely and meets patient needs.Monitors equipment by performing checks such as centrifuge speed, temperature of refrigerators used for specimen and reagent storage, dry baths as well as maintaining records for checks conducted.Ensure equipments are clean and in good working condition.Operates and maintains sophisticated instruments and equipment used in the department, is able to calibrate, maintain, operate and shut down such instruments.Maintains competence in Laboratory Information System that is crucial to the quality operations of the laboratory and patient care.

Work with a group of professionals (Medical and Veterinary) in conducting researches and medical discoveries.Responsible for ensuring a well-organized laboratory making sure that all the laboratory equipments (i.e. diagnostic testing equipment, water quality equipment, computers) are in good working condition and should be aware of the status of each piece of equipment and in-charge of facilitating repairs if necessary.Responsible for ensuring quality of various laboratory supplies and standards of keeping them at the laboratory storage.Responsible for inventory, monitoring (i.e. incoming and outgoing stocks), forecasting and ordering of laboratory supplies.In-charge of issuance of pharmaceutical supplies, forecasting pharmaceutical (i.e. medicine) stocks, and maintenance of appropriate quantity as recommended by the Veterinarians and Animal Care Manager.Provide assistance in terms of laboratory information as required by the SOAP system.Responsible for maintaining and updating medical files.Supervise the work and training of staff medical technologist to ensure the highest quality and standards in laboratory testing, laboratory performance and behavior.Make an assessment through the examination that will pass through the staff veterinarian and consulting veterinarian.Communicate with physicians about the examination conducted.Performs routine chemistry procedures for marine mammals (i.e. Cetaceans and Pinnipeds) and terrestrial animals (i.e. Canine, Feline, Macaque, Avian, Turtles, etc.)Initially troubleshoots and maintains laboratory equipment.Validates and releases laboratory test results accurately within the turnaround time.Recognizes and reports abnormal test results and/or the need of additional testing.Responsible in interpreting and communicating critical patient results to the on-site and consulting veterinarians.Performs and monitors quality control in the assigned section in the laboratory.
