• Preparing the annual accounts and notes to the accounts. Ensuring compliance with accounting standards.• Preparing the quarterly VAT return and the annual partial exemption %.• Preparing the Corporation Tax return.• Cash flow and balance sheet forecast. Providing reports to the Finance Director to aide investment decisions.• Banking covenants compliance and production of relevant KPI’s.

• Production of monthly forecasts for the finance department.• Production of a monthly written report on our financial position, explaining variances and any risks.• Production of 3 year budgets submitted as part of the budget planning process detailing the establishment and planned expenditure.• Attended monthly meetings with budget holders to ensure I had a detailed knowledge and understanding of what was planned within the department.• Challenged budget holders from other professional services on variances and provided help with meeting savings targets.

• Centre point of contact for academic finance.• Analysed large data sets including student numbers, drop-out rates, repeating students and staffing numbers.• Assigned indirect costs to units using student numbers, staff numbers and m2. • Reported and investigated significant variances.

• Course costing using the principles of activity based costing to help schools with the planning process.• Introduced full economic costing (FEC) for research projects and introduced spreadsheets to calculate costs and post budgets.• Provided training on full economic costing.

• Design, build and implementation of new financial system.• Experience of general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, fixed assets and project costing.• Production of new accounting structure.• Training face to face, production of guidance notes and user acceptance testing.
