In my career in retail and retail administration, there are certain aspects that I have come to love – particularly engaging with customers and customer service, but also building up relationships with work colleagues and working as part of a team. I have learned many skills such as effective communication, dealing with complaints, time management and analytical questioning/listening along with practical skills such as health and safety, following security protocols and keeping records.Throughout my career I have always been required to use computerised systems and am highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, along with other computer software. I have a polite and respectful telephone manner, good organisational and prioritisation skills and work to the highest standards, always giving attention to detail in everything I do.I attended college in 2008/09 to do an HNC in Travel at Anniesland College but unfortunately did not complete the full year, and shortly after this period, the travel industry took a huge nosedive, with several companies going into administration. I did not let either of these get me down and pushed forward with my career in retail. This led to promotions to Supervisor and Assistant Manager positions. I have been put into challenging situations as a Supervisor/Assistant Manager so cope well under pressure and am very adaptable to changing environments.
