Club And Volunteer Development Officer (Coach Core Project Manager)
I work within the Sport Development section on the Club, Coaching and Volunteering team. I manage Glasgow Sport's Coach Core apprenticeship programme with support from The Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry. My role incorporates leading on the five-week employability programme, PreCoach Core and project managing the year-long sports coaching apprenticeship and it's associated SQA qualifications. Coach Core aims to provide young people who are competing, volunteering or enthusiastic about sport with recognised qualifications and development opportunities via a tailored work programme, in which to build themselves a successful career pathway. I work to build on external partnerships and attract funding streams to support Coach Core's continued sustainability.Glasgow's Coach Core was recognised out of 350+ organisations around the world by 'Beyond Sport' as an example of good practice.Winner of Glasgow City Council's Flourish Team Excellence Award in the 'Learning in the City' category.I led the development of the Culture and Education programme that was delivered to international athletes during the 2013 UCI Junior World Track Championships and 2013 World Youth Netball Championships. Originally as part of Glasgow's bid campaign to host the 2018 Youth Olympic Games, the programme formed the foundations of a CEP model for all future world youth sporting championships held in Glasgow.In 2013 I formed the Glasgow Sport Youth Panel who represent and act as a voice for young people volunteering in sport in Glasgow.I had a lead role in 'Sport Spaces' an innovative sports programme led by young people to use undeveloped spaces across the globe to promote interest and participation in sport. Through consultations with young people these Sports Spaces are developed in conjunction with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to attract young people who feel the Olympic Games and sport in general are not relevant to their lives.
