I worked within the Ion Acceleration experimental team as a postdoctoral researcher in the High Intensity Laser Science Group. My primary role was the design, implementation and analysis of data resulting from plasma x-ray diagnostics, in particular, an x-ray single photon counting diagnostic for measuring the keV free electron temperature distribution generated in a fs laser-driven plasma.

During my PhD, I made the first demonstration of x-ray point projection imaging from a laser-driven cluster gas plasma source and I detected previously unreported radial energy transport during the expansion of the cluster gas plasma via spatial and spectral measurements of x-ray emission. I also designed, installed and operated a single photon counting continuum x-ray spectroscopy diagnostic to measure the electron temperature created by the first optically levitated limited mass laser target irradiated by a 1 TW pulsed laser source.

I was the primary point of contact between the Target Fabrication Group and external research groups for each experimental campaign at RAL’s Vulcan and Astra Gemini high power laser facilities. I completed the Level 2 qualification in Line Management from the Institute of Leadership and Management and The Institute of Occupational Health and Safety’s Managing Safely qualification allowing me to build a strong and motivated team of Microtarget Fabricators to ensure that all target delivery requirements were met daily during experiments.
