Tindall Riley and Co Limited manages a group of insurance businesses; Britannia, Griffin and Wren, which offer professional services to their members. The largest of the group; Britannia is the market leader in the maritime insurance sector. As a truly global organisation TR has nine overseas offices from New York to Japan.My role was to partner with the CEO, to lead the HR department and provide strategic direction for the people agenda. Key Achievements:- Evolving TR from a London centric operation to a true global organisation. During my tenure, TR expanded their global footprint with a 50% headcount growth, this included the opening of offices in both New York and Luxembourg, as well as converting six overseas correspondent bases to fully established TR offices. This saw a 20% increase of revenue for Britannia.- TR was a very traditional company with a number of legacy issues within HR. My role was to modernise the HR offering; I restructured the HR team introducing Subject Matter Experts in Talent Management and HR Analytics to work alongside a Global Business Partnering model. We then introduce new initiatives such as a Leadership Development Programme, Hybrid Working and ESG reporting which included Diversity and Inclusion, Wellness and Psychological safety. - Revolutionised our Compensation and Benefits offering. This involved assessing and benchmarking globally what we already had in place. Removing legacy bonus, benefits and pension structures which were not adding value. Consulted and introduced new contracts of employment for all employees, which detailed our new approach to compensation. This included introducing a new HR system: Sage, an Online Benefits Portal through Gallagher and additional insurances. When surveyed 80% of employee stated that our benefits met their expectations.

Brookfield is one of the world's leading global alternative asset managers, with 240,000 operating employees and $925 billion in assets under management.Reporting into both the CIO of Brookfield Asset Management and the CEO of Brookfield Office Properties, my role was to lead the HR function for the business in EMEA.- Worked with the investment teams to deliver their business objectives, including the acquisition and development of Greenergy for the Private Equity team, the development of Student Roost and Centre Parcs businesses for the Real Estate AM team and the review of potential assets from Carillon for BGIS. I also opened the new Brookfield Luxembourg Office and commenced HR management of the UAE offices.- Improved Brookfield’s internal procedures for GDPR and introduced SMCR guidelines to adhere with the new regulations and a procedure for measuring ongoing compliance. Wrote the Brookfield Remuneration Policy which detailed Brookfield’s strategy to compensation for the FCA. Represented Brookfield during their inaugural audit with the HMRC.- Participated as a member of the global HR team to develop and deliver HR initiatives in line with global business priorities including being the pilot for the introduction of Workday to the organisation. Shared my ideas to the wider HR community on improving the company’s approach to wellbeing and employee engagement to promote a healthy workplace.

Oyster Petroleum was a new exploration and production company looking for future oil reserves in the North Sea. The company was formed in 2013 and was financially backed by Hitec Vision, a Norwegian investment company with an investment of $150 million. The strategic objective was to create an Oil Company that could be sold for $300 million in seven years, to a size and scale of Valiant Petroleum Plc. which we had just merged with Ithaca Energy. Working alongside the old Management team of Valiant, my role was to partner with the CEO to create an Oil company from scratch, which meant a complete HR build. Like many start-ups, I worked alongside the C-suite to talk to new partners to promote the business and generate opportunities. In 2015, after creating tangible assets through informed joint venture activity, Oyster was successfully merged with Verus Petroleum.

Valiant Petroleum Plc. was a very successful AIM listed full cycle Oil & Gas company, with a primary focus on exploration and production within the UK Continental Shelf, achieving profits of $150 million in 2012. Working as part of the Director/Senior Management team, my role was to lead and manage the HR function in this highly regulated environment, making sure that Valiant met all its HR operational requirements. In February 2013, Valiant was acquired by the Ithaca Energy Group. Collaborating with the new owners, my role was to co-ordinate the due diligence of the change of control of ownership. This included all communications, the collective consultation process, the exit of all employees including the Directors and NEDs and the vesting of the LTIP/Share Options schemes.
