Research Intern
In the summer of 2024, I completed an internship with the Quantum Interferometry group at the University of Birmingham, working on the project "Celebrating 10 Years of Gravitational-Wave Instrumentation: Building an Interactive Model LIGO Interferometer." During this time, I contributed to a range of exciting projects, including:- Developing a compact, shot-noise-limited Michelson interferometer.- Improving the seismic isolation system for a suspended interferometric sensor.- Designing two versions of a model LIGO-style interferometer: one for the Thinktank Birmingham Science Museum, and one as a portable version for outreach events.Through this internship, I gained experience working as part of a university research group, applying hands-on skills in quantum interferometry and instrumentation. I also had the opportunity to attend a multi-university Quantum Interferometry workshop, where I presented my research to peers and experts in the field.
