Hazel Harrison's success story starts where very few entrepreneurs begin, behind a toboggan being pulled by a dog-team in Canada’s Arctic.At 23 and a busy mom of two young children, she leased space and started her first business venture, the ‘Cloud 9’ airport restaurant. As decent revenue started coming in, Hazel moved to Ottawa, Ontario and went on a knowledge-gathering quest.From 1994 to 2024 she started and managed nine different businesses, in a variety of industries from restaurant, construction, real estate, digital health, recruiting & training. In 2006 Hazel graduated from Carleton University with a BA in Psychology. She also studied Business at McMaster University.During COVID, Hazel completed the online Technology Entrepreneurship Lab to Market program with Harvard Business School, and became a Certified Business Advisor. She coached startup companies for Wilfrid Laurier University's Women Entrepreneurship Center; Women of Ontario Social Enterprise Network (WOSEN); Centre for Social Innovation (CSI); Alberta Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) and, Invest Ottawa.Entrepreneurs appreciate her “let’s-get-to-the-point” attitude, and continue to light up her phone daily with people wanting to partner with her or to gain business advice. She shares her tips, tribulations and success stories with entrepreneurs of all ages from 9 years old to entrepreneurs in their 70s.As a self-proclaimed "social-preneur," Hazel is focused on how her business operations revenue will allow her to focus on her social endeavors. She’s an Academic Member of Laval University’s Centre for Research and Co-creation in Innovation and Sustainable Indigenous Business.In 2023 Hazel launched CRT, an Indigenous majority-owned company, whose mission is to support the reconciliation process by providing training & recruiting services to all Canadians in order to heal, grow stronger and prosper together.
