About Hazell I.
James Baldwin once wrote “Not everything that can be faced can be changed; but nothing can be changed until it is faced”. This quote embodies my approach to clinical work, especially as it relates to survivors of trauma. In a trauma-informed manner, I help those that I work with accept that there are things that are out of their control and embrace what they can do within their control in order to facilitate internal change. In terms of advocacy, I have the understanding that I might not be able to undo the impact of certain systems, but I choose to do what I can to, at the very least, confront those systems where I can.
