I am the Founder of the Beginners Gardening Course at the TCD Botanic Garden which I have been delivering since 2014. This course is open to the public and full of practical applications of horticulture from growing your own fruit and veg and pruning roses and fruit trees to propagating plants from cuttings. Before I started teaching I held a variety of positions including lecturer with the Dublin School of Horticulture, Research Assistant with the Botany Department in TCD and a position as a Head Gardener in a private estate. I have also worked on a voluntary basis as the project manager for a community allotment in Palmerstown where I taught volunteers how to grow food crops. My experience includes garden design and horticultural consultancy, details of which can be seen on my website www.hazelproctor.com

We planned to engage with the local groups within the community such as schools, active retirement, tidy towns committee and the Order of Malta creating an inter-generational project that encourages self sustainability through environmentally friendly practices which in turn will improve biodiversity.
