The primary project involves designing and synthesizing novel ligands for Nuclear Receptors (NRs), with a particular focus on Estrogen-related receptors (ERR). This is achieved using a Structure-Based Drug Design strategy combined with a Structure-Activity Relationship (SAR) approach, along with computational chemistry tools like molecular modeling and protein-ligand docking. Additionally, the lab performs in vivo screening of these novel ligands using cell-based luciferase reporter assays, targeting therapeutic treatments for Breast Cancer and Alzheimer’s disease. This project is funded by the National Institute on Aging (NIA) under the National Institutes of Health, (grant #1R01AG077160-01A1).
