Attached specifically with the financial services audit practice, providing audit and advisory work for banking and funds management clients.Experience includes audit of various parts of a bank’s operations and financial statements, with emphasis on treasury and investment accounts, credit review and risk management, financial reporting as well as reporting to regulators e.g. Central Bank of Malaysia (“BNM”).Engagement portfolio includes a Malaysian-based foreign-owned Islamic finance house, the largest bank in Malaysia (including its Islamic banking arm) and unit trust funds.Led team to perform audit fieldwork within the engagement timeframe and reported directly to Senior Managers, Directors and Partners.Responsible for engagement planning and resource management as well as preparation of engagement deliverables e.g. reports to audit committees of clients, memorandum of recommendation to improve clients’ internal controls and submission package to BNM.Non-audit projects include:- Review of a bank’s treasury and risk management functions on derivatives and hedging;- Advisory work on operationalisation of newly adopted reporting standards e.g. MFRS139 (IAS39 equivalent), which includes implementation of new methodology of collective impairment assessment using incurred loss approach;- Compliance reporting to Malaysian deposit insurance system regulator;- Consulting work on first time adoption of Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (“MFRS”) for audit clients; and,- Provide industry training on specific topics e.g. treasury function at a bank and introduction to investment banking, to the firm's junior associates.

Provided auditing services for retail, private and investment banks as well as funds management firms.Performed full audit fieldwork on clients' internal controls and statutory audit for financial statements as well as group reporting requirements. Engagement portfolio included a UK subsidiary of India’s second largest bank, a local private merchant bank and a global banking and financial services group.

Involved in a research on the market environment and regulatory conditions of the Islamic banking industry in Malaysia.Assisted in a feasibility study on the profitability of the entertainment industry in Asia.Involved in financial modelling at the reviewing stage and preparing model architecture.
