Kulanu supports isolated, emerging, and returning Jewish communities around the globe.

Founded and coordinated this listserv which brought together state and federal regulators of nonprofits, nonprofit sector leaders, watchdog groups, lawyers, accountants, scholars, fundraising professionals, service providers to the nonprofit sector and others to explore how the Internet could support nonprofit accountability. We advocated that the Form 990 should be available on the Internet, and explored ways to make nonprofit regulation more effective and less burdensome to nonprofits. We are very pleased that the Form 990's are now available on guidestar.org.

Worked with Peter Swords on several research projects, including state attorney generals' regulation of nonprofits, and nonprofit accountability. We concluded that the Form 990 should be available on the Internet, and advocated for this.

Helped found this innovative Jewish day school in New York City, and served in various leadership positions for 10 years. Led recruitment for first three years (taking school to 128 students), helped develop class parents system and parents organization, served on finance committee, etc.

Helped found the Teacher Center, which brought together teachers and parents to improve teaching and improve the schools. Served as part-time development director from 1975-1978. Published paper, "Is There Life After Seed Money?" about this work.

Worked in program funded by US Office of Education to train community teams from around the Northeast in community organization and drug prevention.

Planned Children's Circle Day Care Center in the Southeast Bronx, first as organizer, then as executive director of the planning project. Served as lawyer for the city-wide Ad Hoc Committee on Community-Controlled Day Care.

Served in training and "Community Health Advocacy" Department of this neighborhood medical care demonstration program funded by the Office of Economic Opportunity. Trained health workers on community resources and legal rights, consulted with health care teams on community resources and legal rights, worked with community group to plan for a child day care center.
