statutory director of the Dutch National Metrology Institute. This institute is a private company that manages the SI measurement standards for the Dutch state. To realize this, VSL has a state of the art laboratory facility R&D, the calibration of instrument and the production of reference materials. Calibrations and reference materials are offered to the industry on a commercial basis, both nationally and internationally.

As a member of the management team of the Theme Energy in TNO I was responsible for the development of the assignment portfolio of Geo Energy. This includes the national and international market of oil and gas and emerging sustainable energy from the underground (e.g. geothermal energy, larg scale energy storage). The assignments portfolio has a size of approximately M€ 25 and includes B2B assignments, public private partnerships in NL (TKI) and EU and a demand-driven research program.

As a member of the management team of TNO Technical Sciences I was responsible for the exploitation and knowledge portfolio of 8 expertise groups (± 450 employees) in Delft and Helmond. Besides the daily operational responsibilities, noteworthy achievements are:- Development of the organizational structure of the TNO Technical Sciences expertise organization.- Spin-out of Celsian BV, Eindhoven.

In this position I was responsible for the valorization of technology from TNO Industry & Technology for the international oil and gas market. Size ± 150 fte. Besides the daily operational responsibilities, noteworthy achievements are:- Development a strategy for the oil and gas market from TNO Industry & Technology.- Development of a TNO branch in the Science & Technology Center in Qatar.

In this position I was responsible for the valorization of physical measurement methods and measurement systems for government and industry. Size ± 150 fte. Noteworthy achievements:- Integration of TNO Industry and TNO TPD towards TNO Science & Industry.- Outsourcing of the design and engineering activities of Embedded Systems.

In this position I was responsible for a group of approximately 120 employees within TNO TPD, focused on the development of instrumentation and information systems. Noteworthy achievements:- Refocusing of IT R&D strategy of TNO TPD.- Spin-out of Brightsite BV, Delft.

Group of experts (±20 fte) focussed on the development of inspection systems. Noteworthy achievement:- Licence contract for Acoustic Televiewer (www.alt.lu)- Development of a consortium of VGT, NLR, Perot Systems and TNO for the JSF program Prognostic Health Management
