With over 17 years of experience in education, I bring a transformative & student-centered approach to my work as an educational leader. Inspired by the words of social reformer Frederick Douglass, who famously said, "If there is no struggle, there is no progress," I firmly believe in the power of growth & perseverance. This philosophy has guided me throughout my educational journey, from high school to college & into my professional career. My path as an educator began during college when I had the opportunity to explore World Heritage sites along the Dalmatian coast. This experience highlighted the vital role of education in post-war countries like Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, and Montenegro. Motivated to make a positive impact, I pursued my passion for teaching, recognizing that educators play a crucial role in promoting understanding, tolerance, and harmony. After graduating, I began a progressive 10-year tenure at The Potomac School in McLean, VA. During this time, I held various roles, including history teacher, advisor, coach, & eventually associate director of admissions. These experiences gave me a comprehensive understanding of educational practices, independent schools, & the admissions process. In 2018, I founded Henry Charles Consulting, prioritizing the unique needs of students & families. Drawing on my expertise, I have successfully guided numerous families through the admissions process, helping them confidently navigate the complexities. My dedication to fostering a collaborative and inclusive working culture has enabled me to establish strong connections with some of the nation's top private schools.During the challenging COVID-19 pandemic, I collaborated with Sidwell Friends School, providing invaluable support to the administration & teachers. I played a vital role in delivering effective in-person & remote instruction, ensuring that students in grades 5-12 continued to receive engaging & impactful educational experiences. My educational achievements include a master's degree from Georgetown University & a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland. Committed to ongoing professional development, I actively participate in organizations such as the Association of Independent School Admission Professionals (AISAP), The People of Color Conference (POCC), the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), & I am a member of the Independent Education Consultants Association (IECA).With a transformative and student-centered approach. My purpose is to pair students with schools that fuel their passion
