Henro received a unique ‘Contract’ appointment to work with Sebedisan Construction as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, from 1 February 2020 to 30 October 2020 (with the exception of the short time during the first serious COVID 19 lockdown). Here Henro received substantial technical and practical exposure within the field of business by • Measuring work on smaller projects;• Providing pricing on Tender documentation in alignment with QS practice;• Facilitating measurements on-site for quotations on renovation jobs;• Enabling progress quantification;• Quantifying materials in the inventory:• Quantifying and ordering materials (as and when required); • Acquiring quotations from various Suppliers to source best pricing on products and completing documentation (which was not part of the original Bill of Quantities) for claim purposes;• Providing detail feedback to Senior Management on project-problems;• Working toward the systems-approach applied within the Contractor environment;• Applying his natural flair for computer literacy and construction science in a practical manner within the business;• Taking a stance on project-savings, where and when possible;• Providing technical-detail feedback in the form of reporting and verbal feedback (as and when required);• Applying himself to become competent in understanding trends, practices and return-on-investment (ROI) within the Contractor business; and• By keeping on the look-out for new research and emergent practices for Quantity Surveyors
