Developed standards for cross-national comparability of labour market and wealth data for incorporation into a multiyear, multicountry harmonised data base. Worked extensively with survey and registry data from 39 countries, including EU-SILC (as well as the underlying national data sets) and EU-LFS. Instrumental in the redesign of the LIS data template and including the design and implementation of labour market indicators and the automation of programs to create the standardised database framework. Instructed researchers on use of the LIS data and statistical packages (Stata, SAS, and SPSS). Conducted research using LIS data. Developed and managed a database of indicators on demographics, employment, earnings, and inequality by both country and gender. These Employment Key Figures by Gender were created as part of a joint project between LIS and the World Bank and are available on both the World Bank and LIS web sites.

United States Department of Veterans AffairsUsing SAS, Dr. Connolly extracted, merged, cleaned, and managed large administrative data sets (Medicare, Medicaid, VA hospital data) for use in group and individual grant-funded projects. Helped develop the emerging Ph.D. program in labor economics and econometrics. Served on the Ph.D. comprehensive exam committees for labor and industrial organization. Member of the Faculty Senate’s ad hoc committee on Information Technology. Acted as the faculty liaison to the Economics Graduate Student Association and was involved in the graduate curriculum development, faculty recruitment, and computer infrastructure development for the Economics department.
