The financial services industry is going to change more over the next 10 years than it has since the introduction of computers fifty years ago. I am going to help make it happen.We aim to prepare our clients for the future by implementing native digital processes and truly integrating front, middle and back office. After having spent more than two decades improving and automating processes designed to be executed by humans, it is time for a fundamental change. From here onwards we will design and implement workflows driven by technology, and change the role of the BAU organization from execution to providing governance, handling exceptions, and dealing with changed requirements and increasing customer expectations. Humans should pick up the tasks which we excel at – providing insight, spotting opportunities, and challenging the present - while leaving tasks where we do not have a competitive advantage to technology.I work with some of the largest banks and insurers in the Nordics, assisting them with bridging the gap from the labor-driven past to the data-driven future, and with nimbler newcomers and fintechs who are redefining what the industry is all about. Digital transformation is the name of the game, but the impact goes way beyond technology and the systems landscape. Operating model, organization, strategy, and even business model is in play, and my bet is that no incumbent will be successful over the next decade without revisiting their purpose and role, their value proposition, and obviously, how to deliver.The industry will change; embrace it or become irrelevant.
