About π΄ Harrison D.
Posts are my personal views and not investment advice. May have positions in assets discussed.Forever trying to find ways that crypto can help create the future we want. Know enough to be dangerous at many things, but master of none. I've spent time in crypto, counterparty risk, emerging regulation, cloud compute, AI, and being a technical cofounder. Aspiring ski bum, but creating things is just too fun.
Listed skills include Python, Git, Javascript, Sending It, and 49 others.

Early engineer on the blockchain analytics teamAdditionally* Helped build and lead the design & development efforts of an 18-member-company, industry wide coalition* Worked with a number of external organizations to build a secure, safe solution for sensitive data transmission* At different points, was the technical PM, the EM, and the sales engineer.* Helped build the engineering bootcamp programNow I'm repenting for my sins, working in Coinbase's non-profit arm, where I'm an early engineer on the direct giving and environmental sustainability initiatives where I* Do tech diligence on/advise "portfolio companies", find promising leads, stay deeply embedded in the ecosystem* Use the tools I've built for the past 4 years to keep fraud rates low / impact metrics high* Turn nebulous vision questing into working code and product* Sometimes still LARP as the EM

Growth Team Lead
More Yoda, less Superman[1]. All of the below + management & scrum master responsibilities. Instead of just offering technical leadership, now I leverage the whole growth team, leveling us all up in the process.[1] https://www.refound.com/blog/yoda-less-supermanNotable achievements include * Bringing A/B testing and experimentation to the organization* Assisting in designing (and redesigning) te BI pipeline* Leading a high performing team of engineers to maintain consistent, high velocity* Working cross functionally to empower other departments with engineering resources* Being responsible for both the implementation, maintenance and business decisions of how we use our payments gateway* Creating an AI powered slackbot to double Sales Efficiency via lead gen, as well as be notified of early indicators of churn
Growth Engineering Lead
I'm helping to found and lead the growth team - this encompasses everything from identifying and tracking key minimal viable metrics, statistically modeling the business, planning user research, mapping the customer journey through to doing the actual data science & visualization, as well as being accountable for the technical implementation. We have to stay scrappy and resourceful to continually deliver high-value insights to all layers of the company, to prove our worth. The most notable success I've had is delivering keys insights for our fundraising which directly impacted the valuation of the company, to the tune of +$30m. I've also leveraged machine learning to help empower the sales team (directly responsible for a potential ~500$k), and am helping to redefine our marketing efforts, by developing & providing detailed campaign effectiveness metrics. All of this has helped reshape the business strategy
Software Engineer
I was (and still am) one of four on the "Mission Control"β system team. We make the services that keep the Pantheon platform the fastest and most resource-efficient product in its market. This is predominately Twisted Python & Cassandra. I've helped design and implement the API, business logic, data models, schemas as well as participating in the on-call rotation.I've also working on the product, design and front-end teams when they're resource constrained. Some of this work has been to improve the FTUE and the general UX of the dashboard (Backbone, Coffeescript, CSS, etc), as well as spearheading the effort to prevent platform & payment abuse. In addition to my engineering responsibilities, I've also become the team's dedicated product touchpoint. This entails working closely with our product managers and designers to spec features then translate those business specs into tech specs, and breaking those out into individual stories. It's a startup, I wear every hat I can get a hold of. From abstract speculation of features in terms of business value, through the technical design and maintance, on all levels of the implementation, from interface to server health. Also new employee onboarding - as far afield as Europe and South Africa. I thrive in a fast paced dynamic environment where every day is different and there is something new to learn
Musician
I'm a pretty active musician with a couple records on Spotify, Rdio, iTunes, Amazon Music, etc. It's all pretty chill, electronic, instrumental stuff
Senior Software Engineer
I first worked to internationalize Poker into Arabic. My changes and improvements made Poker more accessible to speakers of different languages in general, and has had an extremely positive impact on the ROI. This work was done in AS3 and PHP.I built Zynga's profanity filter ... in 20 human-languages. It is sophisticated yet incredibly efficient, comparable to some of the more advanced solutions in the market. It uses machine learning and clever NLP to make it extremely lightweight. This was done in AS3, JS, and PHP. I also built a corresponding admin tool so that other teams could make changes to what was filtered, with changes automatically pushed to git.I also designed and built most facets of our in-house translation management system. It's implemented in PHP written on top of CouchDB. Early versions used Lucene, but I've since wrote our own, focused & lightweight search solution. In an effort to make the computationally expensive work more efficient, I built a PHP job distributor/scheduler that can spread work across a cluster of machines - most comparable to a very simplistic map-reduce implementation. The strings to be translated are written to readily available files, accessible by a slick front-end I built, where non-technical contractors can view/download the completed files with ease, and upload the same once they area ready to commit changes. The changes are pushed right into the original database, automating many of the previous game engineer task and simplifying everyone's life. This work has resulted in many, many wins for the International team at Zynga, and is an impressive engineering effort. The final responsibility I had was building out a "seed app" for a dashboard, which was then thoroughly worked on by other engineers. This was done in Express, Angular and Jade, and was an exercise in writing very readable, well documented, clear and concise code.I've organized a team offsite, and have started hosting a tech-talk lecture series.
Writer, Photographer And Arts & Entertainment Editor
I direct contributors who write for the Arts and Entertainment section of The Howl. This involves brainstorming interesting article ideas, doing preliminary research for the contributors, then managing the contributors. I also contribute in the form of words and photos.
Writer, Photographer And Layout Editor
I contributed to The Howl in the form of articles and photographs. I then helped to layout the newspaper, using Adobe Photoshop and InDesign
Part Time Student Director
I organize accessible, enjoyable events for part time students and ensure that the wishes of the part time demographic is taken into account in the WCSA decision making process. I help to integrate part time students, including Academic Bridging students into the college environment.
Dsp Engineer Intern
I built and tested embedded software models of video chips which performs FRC (image interpolation, resulting in smoother motion), 2D->3D conversion, video processing, as well as displaying 3D images. I ultimately built the top-level virtual chip model. In the process I created a GUI with which to easily control the software model. Part of this process was making a top-level control file, which improved the flow of the development, and allowed us to autogenerate all the virtual registers, offset files, GUI controls and proprietary video rendering plugin files. I then ran video through the chip, and evaluated the output, returning my results to the development team, identifying required improvements if necessary. The evaluation criteria were developed by myself and one other team member - it allowed us to objectively rate the subjective performance of our chip. The chip was written in C and Python, communicating over the command line, and the GUI was written in wxPython. In the latter part of my internship, I was solely responsible for creating the company's FRC Benchmark. I created synthetic content and organized all aspects of a film shoot to gather live content. I also colour graded and edited the captured live content, gathering experience in Apple Colour and Final Cut Pro. The content gathered had the stringent requirements of making our TV look the best of all our competitors.
Vice President Public Relations
I managed the image of the Association. This included designing and building the orientation website, maintaining and auxiliary development of the Association's website, designing posters, doing one-on-one's to promote the Association's events, and most importantly, purchasing a mascot for the college. The mascot has now gone on to become something of a legend.
Social Director
I organized and ran social events for the residence. This included running two extremely successful pub nights drawing in excess of 350 people each, barbecues, karaoke, and a dumpling making seminar.
