Volunteer in the Anatomy Lab and Simulation Center with middle school and high school students from underserved and unrepresented populations as part of the Health Professions Outreach Program that is designed to help prepare these students to successfully compete at the highest levels of college and post-graduate studies for careers in medicine and health sciences.

Worked with pediatric anesthesia physicians to design, collect, analyze, write, and present research focusing on difficult pediatric intubations utilizing the Multicenter Pediatric Difficult Intubation Registry. Which included continuing previous work comparing fiber-optic intubation through a supraglottic airway to video laryngoscopy and a project comparing spontaneous ventilation to pharmacological control of the airway.

-Worked with pediatric anesthesia physician to design, analyze, write, and present research focusing on difficult pediatric intubation. Oral presentation and poster presentation of research at FAER Poster Symposium at American Society of Anesthesia 2014 Annual Meeting entitled “A Comparative Study of Flexible Fiberoptic Bronchoscopy to Video Laryngoscopy: A review of the prospectively collected Pediatric Difficult Intubation (PeDi) Registry”.-Assisted in pediatric perioperative care from June 2014-July 2014.

Duties included screening patients, drawing blood, administering medications, and assisting providers with procedures at the outpatient hematology/oncology medical practice and treatment center.

Volunteer in Dental Clinic: duties included monitoring vital signs; sterilizing instruments; screening medical history; assisting dentist and dental hygienist; developing x-rays; preparing treatment areas and instruments; screening medical records for grant purposes; and assisting in front desk operations.

-Involved in research of MDMA neurotoxicity: duties include cutting histological sections; treating specimens with antibodies, staining, and placing on slides; examining specimens and compiling data with florescent microscopy; and testing samples using high-performance liquid chromatography. -Applied for and was awarded a Florida Atlantic University undergraduate research grant and presented research "Effect of MDMA abuse on axonal transportation of serotonergic nervous system in the rat brain" at Florida Atlantic University's Undergraduate Research Symposium. -Co-authored an abstract and poster for the Society for Neuroscience conference presented by the professor that I worked under.-Tao R, Shokry IM, Callanan JJ, Adams HD, Ma Z. Provided medical coverage for combat missions for 2nd Heavy Brigade Combat Team 1st Infantry Division Commander and his security detachment during Operation Iraqi Freedom; provided ongoing primary medical care for fifteen soldier security detachment; supervised two medics with similar missions and was responsible for medical training, supplies, and equipment for the platoon of 45 soldiers.

Supervised day-to-day operations at Fort Riley's primary care clinic which provided sick call, triage, and care for sick and injured soldiers along with physical exams; provided and supervised screenings, exams, and treatments; supervised civilian and military clinic auxiliary staff; assisted doctors, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants with exams, treatments, and advanced procedures.

Provided medical care for multinational soldiers from 11 countries and civilians which included screenings, triage, exams, treatments and procedures; Performed Charge of Clinic duties which included 24 hours on duty, and after normal duty hours I was the only staff member in the clinic to provide initial care and triage to obtain additional resources, if necessary. Maintained medical readiness database for soldiers of the US contingent.

Provided patient care in Emergency Department that served soldiers, veterans, family members, and civilian emergencies; Duties included monitoring vital signs, splinting, suturing, transporting patients throughout the hospital, obtaining IV access, drawing blood and transporting specimens, twelve Lead EKGs, and other procedures and treatments as well as assisting nursing and medical staff with procedures. Participated in the implementation of electronic medical records.
