Accomplished Talent Acquisition pro and Entrepreneur with over 20 years experience building and leading highly specialized organizations, both in corporate and start-up environments. I've achieved "trusted advisory” status with hundreds of business leaders--not only assisting them in their personal career decisions, but also in building out their teams. I have balanced my career between building and managing high-impact talent organizations for divisions of some of the largest companies in the world (KPMG, Grainger, Deutche Telekom, Publicis Groupe and Amazon), as well as private executive search practices, including a top 10 Global Retained Search Firm in NYC.However, if you ask me what is my most prized "Recruit" of my career, I won't speak of the many brilliant CEOs, CTOs, or Engineers with whom I've worked. Sorry folks! I'll tell you it was unequivocally when I cold-called and recruited Captain James Lovell (yes, that Capt. Lovell of Apollo 13 fame) for my favorite "customer", who just so happened to be my 9yr old son, to do a videotaped interview for his 4th grade science project: "The Effects of Extensive Space Travel on Muscle Atrophy". Go big or go home, right? When I told my Son that I got Captain Lovell to meet with him, he said, "Papa, there isn't a person on Earth (or beyond) that you can't recruit.". Not so sure about that, but being my Son's favorite recruiter, even for a day, is worth all of the fortune in the world (and beyond). :-) Today, I'm a Principal Executive Recruiter at Uber, leading Executive Search for our Product , Product Design, and Science orgs. Phase one of my engagement spanned from initial relationship building with the Governor's Office of the State of WY, to securing funding, to writing state & local workforce development grants, to actual physical site selection and build out. I figuratively “parachuted into” a relatively unknown business community, and built all of these relationships from the ground up. This was a monumental WIN for the State of WY, as well as a very innovative move for UL, and I was the Quarterback of the entire initiative. Phase two of my engagement was to proactively recruit and build a world-class team of development and support analysts within this brand new business. Working together with the University of Wyoming, as well as the local business community, I built a team that became a key contributor in driving the implementation and maintenance of some of UL's most critical enterprise-wide business systems.
