I was an undergraduate researcher at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute's field station in Gamboa, Panama. During that summer I performed research with a partner on the interaction between the development of tadpoles of the red-eyed treefrog and their environment, analyzed water quality and invertebrate communities in mesocosm, and worked with the entire lab on a large project addressing developmental plasticity and time to metamorphosis in response to various predator conditions
Research Experience For Undergraduates
I was an undergraduate researcher at the Mountain Lake Biological Station, outside of Blacksburg, Virginia. During that summer I performed an independent research project on the role of maternal effects and the larval environment on developmental plasticity in a pond-breeding amphibian, the eastern red-spotted newt, and assisted my mentor with her doctoral research on the same organism.
