Board director position at the UK’s National Laboratory for Nuclear Energy - £100m revenue, 1,000 staff. Executive responsibility for finance, commercial, IT and procurement functions, with a staff of 50. Key Achievements include: • Successful turnaround of c£20m deficit in the company’s finances through effective cost and financial performance management.• As part of the executive leadership team supported the development of the strategy to position NNL as a key player in the government’s nuclear industrial strategy.• Developed the commercial / financial strategy for NNL to operate as a commercially funded national laboratory.• Re-negotiated a £75m, previously loss making, contract with a key customer to generate significant profits.• Secured agreement from NNL board and shareholder to fund a £25m project finance deal with a key customer to commission a suite of plutonium laboratories. • Concluded a £45m investment for the refurbishment of key nuclear facilities by securing joint funding from NNL and a key customer.• Recruited and developed functional leadership team and directed team development and performance improvement. • Supported negotiations with NNL unions which secured increased working hours.• Secured a £4m settlement from contract claims, increasing profit by the same amount. • Chaired board governing a nuclear industry wide £150m IT contract that delivered a modernised IT infrastructure to 20,000 users and a 20% cost saving.

Overall responsibility for finance and commercial activities of this services / consultancy company within EADS group.Key Achievements Included:• Developed a complex financial model for pricing and evaluation of a £150m helicopter search and rescue bid.• Undertook due diligence on helicopter leasing cost proposals and reduced the final cost by €50m.• Supported the setup and then became a trustee of the company’s final salary pension scheme.

Overall responsibility for the finance for 11 subsidiaries across Europe of this US listed communications infrastructure semi-conductor developer . Key Achievements Included:• Managed the financial aspects of the European division restructuring, successfully achieving desired cost savings (£25m+) and reductions in staff (200 reduced to 60).• Managed the migration of the UK ERP system to SAP to harmonise systems across the group.• Led a tax restructuring project in Israel, preserving $12m of tax losses. • Re-negotiated a leasing contract to avoid a $300k vat charge.

Overall responsibility for finance and HR in the UK and Middle East offices of this Nasdaq listed telecoms network software and systems provider. Key Achievements Included:• Member of the executive team that increased revenue from £10m to £50m per annum over 3 years. • Led the financial and commercial aspects on a $300m global frame agreement with the 3 Network. • Discovered a $1.2m contract undercharge and successfully led the negotiations to recover this amount.• Negotiated the settlement of a £5m Vat liability avoiding all penalties and interest.• Developed joint venture revenue sharing agreements with mobile network operators to increase equipment sales and diversify income streams. • Concluded a transfer pricing project to protect the preferential tax arrangements within the group.
