Now in my 19th year in the electronic security industry, starting as bench engineer at CCTV manufacturer, Mercer CCTV. I progressed through a number of roles to Technical Sales Manager in my eight years there. The role of Technical Sales Manager covered a wide range of duties, from account management through to on-site technical support. And of course, many years on Ifsec duty!Looking to move in to other areas of electronic security, I felt a move to an installer was a prudent one. In 2006 I made the move to ID Fire & Security, or ID Technology as it was then. Starting as Design Estimator, I once again progressed to Technical Sales Manager. Mainly responsible for survey, design & quote of CCTV, Access Control & Intercom systems, I relished getting stuck into the larger projects in the £20k - £400k range. However, this size of project was not a daily occurrence and I was equally happy working on a smaller scale and to much smaller budgets. Occasionally I would be involved with other systems such as intruder, nurse call/cell call & PA, however these systems usually formed part of tender and were not ID's core business.I was also responsible for product selection/management, and would regularly meet with suppliers and attend trade shows/product presentations in order to deliver the best solutions for ID and their clients.Unfortunately my time was cut short with ID in Feb 2013 during a restructure, due to financial difficulties. This however gave me an opportunity to work for industry stalwart, Romec. I worked out of the Leeds office, within the Central Design Team as a design engineer. This was only a temporary contract however, which finished in November 2013.Since December 2013 I have been part of the Dual-Stream team, specialising in CCTV & access control. As of November '17 I gained Axis Network Video certification.
