I was responsible for performing maintenance window changes to network switches and routers. I also migrated the university from centralized routing at the core to distributed routing at the IDF layer. In addition, I managed the university’s migration from static Internet Protocol addressing to wired network authentication, as well as its migration to the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol. I additionally supported around 25K users. Furthermore, I served as part of multiple Cisco Early Field Trial (EFT) projects on campus, including one of the larger Cisco SD-Access EFT implementations (I ran SD-Access from 1.1 to 1.2.10 for 1,500+ wired devices). I worked with all levels of users and other IT staff to resolve issues in this position.

Student Network AnalystKansas State University May 2012 - Aug 2014Manhattan, Ks, UsIn this position, I installed and optimized Aruba wireless products in a high-density campus environment while migrating off of a legacy Cisco wireless infrastructure. I kept the network Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard compliant, and I documented change management for the network. I furthermore created Python scripts that backed up switch/router configurations in centralized locations. Also, I troubleshot legacy technologies, such as Thinnet, Thicknet, and hubs. This role gave me the opportunity to support around 40K users. One of my biggest accomplishments in this role is that I helped to improve the monitoring and troubleshooting of wireless issues by implementing Aruba AirWave over the course of three months. I made effective recommendations for solving outages at P1 stations to senior staff as well.
