My work at DEC encouraged broad design capabilities as it was a small team of two designers. Adobe was the main software used. Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator skills were necessary. Problem solving in these programs became even more vital when I lectured and tutored in them at a tertiary level at Avondale University College. DEC's principle client was Sanitarium Health Food Company, and many print projects were managed from the beginning of the design phase through to pre-press file creation, to final press checks. Front end website designs and multimedia projects were also completed from beginning to end. Cook books were designed, and photographed, the printing was managed and then distributed all over the world. I Illustrated a children's colouring book, and logos which were featured on Sanitariums packaging, print material and websites. The knowledge from working as a graphic designer dovetailed well with running my own photography business, and my skills in Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign have been vital in creating and cultivating the brand identity.
