• Assess the vocational and educational needs of disabled veterans; devise plan for reentering the civilian workforce in a new career that is consistent with their interests and aptitude, will not exacerbate their disability conditions, and has a stable job market• Counsel veterans in regards to the needs of their rehabilitation and ensure compliance with recommendations of VA medical professionals and other vocational rehabilitation staff• Work with local colleges and technical schools to assist the veteran in selecting their educational path; case manage veterans at select educational institutions throughout the duration of their program• Provide employment services via resume development, interviewing techniques, and job search skills training• Travel around the central Florida region to monitor veterans who are unable to work at this time due to medical or mental health conditions; assist them in reaching personal and medical goals that will hopefully help them to return to the workforce in the future

• Developed curriculum, taught transitioning service members about veterans’ benefits, and trained them in a wide variety of career transition techniques (such as effective resumes, federal application process, interviewing, and salary negotiation) in a weekly class offered at various military facilities in DC region; this resulted in the ability of thousands of service members to access their VA benefits almost immediately upon separation, particularly those disabled in Operation Iraqi Freedom• Taught executive career transition classes to high-ranking military personnel all across the country• Briefed all ranks of active duty military personnel on a variety of topics at all military installations in the National Capitol Region, on behalf of the Department of Veteran Affairs’ regional offices in Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD, as well as for the Department of Defense• Assessed and analyzed the vocational and educational needs of disabled and non-disabled veterans and military service members transitioning back into civilian life after being medically discharged, retiring, or not reenlisting• Counseled service members and veterans regarding how to manage their career and civilian life, especially in light of their medical issues• As part of 4 Star Jobs, matched employers and employees based on good fit (both recruiting and headhunting)

• At a centralized office using electronic resources, answered all patron inquiries and extensive reference and research questions via telephone, email, and chat• Wrote book reviews for the daily newspaper The Carroll County Times for a two-year period• First two years worked permanent part-time position; then on substitute status, working as needed

• Created a 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation from ground up, with two facilities and 15 staff serving 300+ clients and their families annually• Wrote and received $1.5M annual federal grant with the Department of Labor to assist parents receiving welfare to obtain employment (Welfare-to-Work); successfully placed hundreds of clients annually • Provided mental health, addictions, career, and educational counseling • Taught workshops on success in the workplace and in school• Second-in-command of company, reporting directly to Executive Director and Board of Directors• Directly supervised counseling and case management staff; developed annual budget, wrote grants/contracts, interfaced with community, and marketed company• Operated as the company’s Fiscal Director for approximately nine months, in addition to management and counseling duties; performed all tasks of bookkeeping, payroll, benefits administration, and preparation of monthly invoice for contract with Baltimore City government

• Reviewed mental health referrals from Maryland Health Partners and distributed to residential service agencies in Harford County, as part of public mental health system• Inspected and licensed all Residential Rehabilitation Programs (RRP’s) in county and residences applying for use under HUD’s Shelter Plus Care mental health residential program, ensuring legal compliance

• Provided individual and group psychotherapy and additions counseling to both adolescent and adult populations• Conducted initial clinical interviews and psychological testing for diagnostic purposes, for insurance companies, therapy direction, and advise to psychiatrists for medication management• Taught drug and alcohol education classes to middle and high school students; acted as agency liaison to area schools at all grade levels
