Can you say your survival instinct got you to where you are today? For me, it has been my north star. As a single mom for several years, I had to learn how to rely on myself and carve out my own path. I was solely responsible for creating a foundation for my family which oftentimes bled into how I created processes and plans at work. Creating a community within an organization where others feel open to sharing their lives created this unwavering culture – a people-first culture – one that I am delighted to champion at B&K Enterprises.With over 90 employees and 50 reports across multiple disciplines such as human resources, safety, logistics, and production, I wear many hats during the day. My extensive experience in traffic control, efficiency, operations, process, and procedure has allowed me to carve out opportunities within B&K Enterprises where I currently hold the position of General Manager. I have also been responsible for incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in addition to providing leadership training and development to help develop staff.At B&K Enterprises, we truly live the motto: “Safe. Together, we are carving out a path for future leaders and helping to shape advances in road safety backed by an amazing support team in the US and Canada.For the first time in history, more women are entering the construction industry challenging the status quo and reaching leadership levels. My passion carries through to various boards and organizations that support the initiative to highlight more women of color within the workplace and to place emphasis on mental health and wellness programs within the industry.
