OMES II & OMES III Contracts, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, NASA’s Exploration & In-Space Systems (NExIS)- Supported the On-Orbit Servicing, Assembly, and Manufacturing (OSAM-1) mission during design and development of the Servicing Payload, integration and testing of the Servicing Payload, and into integration and testing of the Servicing Vehicle.- Provided mechanical design expertise for ground support equipment required to facilitate mechanical integration and testing (i.e., lift slings, transportation dollies, and test hardware).- Provided mechanical design expertise for flight hardware. Acted as Responsible Engineer of Calibration Suite used for calibration of two robotic arms on-board OSAM-1. Temporarily stepped in as Responsible Engineer for tool stowage bays which house robotic tools on-board.- Tasks in these roles included: requirement analysis, concept generation, mechanical design, implementation, testing, and documentation. Developed CAD models and engineering drawings for hardware manufacturing. Collaborated with stress analysts, thermal analysts, and engineering team to improve designs prior to fabrication. Developed hardware assembly and test documentation. Worked with mechanical technicians to assemble hardware. Ran environmental tests and hardware proof tests for completed assemblies.

SSIEP Contract, Naval Research Laboratory- Supported design and development of three space instruments: MIGHTI, SoloHI, and WISPR.- Provided design support for the space instruments. Developed CAD models and engineering drawings for flight hardware and ground support equipment needed for flight tests.- Managed hardware procurements for the space instruments. Worked with KBR buyers to purchase needed parts and materials. Scheduled and oversaw hardware deliveries to end-users.- Acted as Configuration Manager for the space instruments. Used Creo Windchill to maintain and release engineering drawings.- Supplied support to KBR for CMMI Maturity Level 3 & 5 appraisals. Participated as a member of the Process Working Group to prepare documentation for CMMI review. Provided support as both Configuration Manager and Mechanical Engineer during CMMI interviews.

OMES I Contract, NASA Goddard Spaceflight Center, Satellite Servicing Capabilities Office (SSCO)- Supported Robotic Refueling Mission (RRM) as Robotic Demonstration and Test (RDT) engineer.- Executed robotic operations in NASA’s Robotics Test Facility, training on and operating FANUC and Motoman robotic systems, to run tests and demonstrate capabilities of RRM robotic tools and adapters designed for robotic servicing and refueling of satellites in-orbit. This was the initial design and development of robotic tools later used on OSAM-1.- Prepared for on-orbit International Space Station (ISS) demonstrations of the RRM robotic tools and adapters. Worked with team of RDT engineers to develop robot operation procedures used during on-orbit ISS demonstrations.- Supported on-orbit ISS demonstrations from the Robotics Test Facility in both lead and supportive comms console positions. Communicated with the ISS providing guidance and expertise knowledge of RRM robotic tools and adapters and robot operation procedures. Provided real-time problem solving utilizing ground-based robotic systems operated in parallel to on-orbit ISS operations to efficiently determine solutions.- Supported as mechanical designer for ground support equipment need for testing and development of RRM flight hardware. Developed CAD models and engineering drawings for hardware manufacturing. Managed part procurement and completed hardware assembly.- Developed and maintained robot facility floor layouts and CAD model for safety evaluations and organizational purposes.- Aided in management and operation of metrology systems in the robot facility.- Acted as Procurement Planner and managed flight and non-flight procurements for SSCO. Interacted with engineers and organized order requests. Worked with KBR Procurement Buyers to purchase needed parts and materials. Scheduled and oversaw hardware deliveries to end-users.

- Worked on the PhoneSat and EDSN projects to research and develop a small satellite that demonstrates the ability to build very low-cost satellites using Android smartphones as processors.- General tasks included: creating CAD models of the satellites, redesigning parts to be fabricated, and solving mechanical design problems.

- Collaborated with other Research Associates to improve the performance of an air-bearing robotic system designed to simulate automated rendezvous and docking of spacecrafts. - Developed LabVIEW programming and hardware for the robotic system to upgrade control algorithms, add data logging capabilities, and create tele-operation and tele-presence capabilities.
