I deliver Safeguarding Training to staff across Nottinghamshire NHS Foundation Trust. Training provided spans the child and adult safeguarding agenda, including Prevent. As part of my role of Safeguarding Trainer/Practitioner, I am required to have an extensive knowledge of many aspects of the child and adult safeguarding agenda. In order to keep up to date with relevant legislation and policy, I subscribe to the Social Care Institute of Excellence and the NSPCC library. Subscriptions, as well as research, Safeguarding Practice Review and the Local Safeguarding Partnership/Board procedure are used to keep my knowledge of current and ever changing safeguarding agenda. I have a sound understanding of the application of Working together to Safeguard Children (2018), Children Act (1989 and 2004), Care Act (2014), MCA (2005) and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (2009), and local safeguarding board procedures. Working across the adult and child safeguarding agendas has consolidated ‘think family’ safeguarding in my own practice and approach.I currently develop and deliver training presentations that are driven by the RCN Intercollegiate Safeguarding Competency Frameworks, as well as Local Safeguarding Partnership/Board procedure. All training packages are designed to incorporate differing learning styles. Having completed the safeguarding trainer course with the NSPCC, I am able to demonstrate awareness of the emotional component of child protection training and identify strategies of managing this at various stages of a training event. I currently deliver Think Family Level 1 & Level 3, Prevent, Domestic Violence Training and Safeguarding Supervision training, as well as developing E-Learning packages for wider safeguarding subjects such as self-neglect.
