Thesis: Interpopulation variation in thermal responses by an invasive freshwater fish • Managed multiple field and laboratory projects on invasive freshwater fishes by obtaining field permits, arranging travel and rentals, organizing teams, and acquiring equipment and laboratory space.• Led teams of 2-5 to monitor abiotic parameters and survey fish with seines, minnow traps, fyke nets, and gill nets in southern Ontario and Québec.• Conducted laboratory experiments independently, processed fish samples in the laboratory, and maintained equipment.• Organized and analyzed data, and communicated research findings in presentations, reports, and manuscripts.

• Investigated the effects of oil sands process water on juvenile mayflies (Hexagenia spp.) in the laboratory to determine the potential impact of releasing tailings pond water into freshwater environments.• Followed strict safety protocols to characterize chemicals in process water and perform experiments evaluating naphthenic acid effects on mayflies.

• Reared juvenile oysters, measured oyster growth, monitored survival, made and maintained equipment, and analyzed data for a large-scale genetic diversity study of the Eastern oyster (Crassostrea virginica).
