This job entails taking any and all boxes that are being shipped and loading them into trailers in ways that won't cause damage to the boxes but optimize the space available so that we can ship as many packages in one trailer. It requires many problem solving aspects in that you have to work with what packages you get to make a safe and secure wall of boxes, all the while you are trying to squeeze in cumbersome or overly heavy boxes and load it down in a quick and efficient manner. It also requires use of my communication skills in that if there is something that I am physically not able or that I need help with, I need to find the person closest to me for assistance to minimize the chance of injury or damage to packages.

My responsibilities included answering phones and e-mails, all regarding concerns or questions from current or potential customers. This required me to have extensive product knowledge and to work well under pressure, keeping a calm and level head to help all our customers reach a resolution to their problems that would be more than satisfactory to them. I had a couple of companies that were my clients whom I made sure had everything they needed for their orders and that if they had any problems or special projects, they could come directly to me and I would work with them to help them in any way I could.

I had worked in the Life Cafe, making everything from smoothies, to sandwiches, to salads, to pizzas. I worked the line in making the food, I was responsible for running the register to take guests' orders as well as resolving any and all problems they may have had. I opened up at 5 am every morning, Monday-Friday, counting down the drawers, making sure the line is stocked with backups, checking to ensure that none of our products used were expired and immediately throwing them out if they were and replacing them with backups. I was in charge of everything being stocked, meaning if I needed to prep an item I would be able to do so. I stood in for our sous chef if something needed to be made. I also trained new employees and made sure that everything during the morning shifts ran smoothly and that the next shift would be set up for success.

My basic responsibilities were waiting on the tables, taking their orders, making sure they were correct, running out the food, making sure the guests are completely satisfied and that there was nothing amiss. I also made sure to get their check to them and settle it in a timely manner as well as basic closing duties when the night was over.

At this retirement community I worked in the two restaurants that were onsite, serving and seating the residence, running out food, making sure the orders for my residents were exactly what the residences wanted before running it out. I had also worked their private dinning special events such as wine tastings and dinner parties that were held in a private room. There were also occasions where I helped with basic prep in the kitchen, things like cutting fruits, assembling dessert plates, and being an expediter.
