As a CMR TA, I teach clinical skills and exams to first-year medical students at WesternU COMP in small groups. This role also includes grading SP Encounters and OSCEs, attending training regarding exam grading and rubrics, and testing medical students in clinical skill competencies.

Somerford Place of Redlands is an assisted-living facility specifically for residents with Alzheimer's or other types of dementia. I started as a Care Giver on 01/17/2019 and as a Medical Technician on 03/16/2019. I performed both roles simultaneously during my shift. As a Care Giver, I took care of the residents by keeping them clean and presentable, and I assisted with brushing their teeth, giving showers, changing their clothes when dirty, brushing their hair, helping them with complications that arise due to their dementia, and getting them ready for bed. I also prepared and served their meals, and cleaned the dishes, kitchen, and dining area after each meal. As a Medicine Technician, I administered the residents’ medications throughout the day, logged and stored their medications, ordered medication refills before they ran out, faxed doctors' offices as needed and in case of an emergency, stayed in contact with the families of the residents so that they did not run out of supplies, managed the facility after-hours, and coordinated emergency responses along with the Executive Director and Residential Services Director.

I planned lessons that engaged students in a supportive and engaging manner, including lessons in the subjects of Biology and Physics. I also built professional relationships with professors and UCR Staff, developed the attitudes and skills for leadership and professionalism, and helped other students develop the attitudes, habits, and skills necessary for academic success.

I used respect and consideration to resolve customer concerns and requests. Other multi-tasking duties included: sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning shelves, stocking and taking inventory of snacks and movies, and operating a cash register when customers were ready to check out.

I learned and practiced using strong interpersonal skills within and between departments. I also performed price checks, operated a cash register as needed, and recovered and cleaned certain areas of the store.

I learned how to prepare certain espresso and slushee requests, recover the store while maintaining professional cleanliness, take inventory, and practice excellent customer service.

I interacted with students in a one-on-one manner, assigned worksheets to help with learning in the subject matter, and monitored student progress in a caring and supportive way.

In this position, I mainly provided one-on-one instruction to students struggling in Mathematics and in various sciences (such as Biology and Chemistry). This also included planning activities to help with learning, including worksheets.
