I am a professional committed to public service having dedicated my career to non-profit and government service. I have a diverse background in non-profit management and development having worked for three national non-profit organizations in Washington, DC. I returned to my home state of North Carolina in 2007 to serve the non-profit community as the director of the regulatory division for the solicitation of charitable contributions in NC. In 2015, I joined United Way of North Carolina as State Director of NC 211. In that role, I had the incredible the opportunity to combine all aspects of my career history through outreach to government agencies and non-profit organizations who wish to utilize the NC 2-1-1 portal as a way to make access to health and human services information easier and more efficient for North Carolina citizens. Now, as Vice President of United Way of North Carolina I continue to provide strategic leadership for the statewide NC 211 system as well as NCCARE360. I am grateful and honored to serve my fellow North Carolinians through my career.I am an "outside" person who thrives on interaction with others, brainstorming and identifying new opportunities to partner. I am a helper who seeks to find ways to improve the lives of others. I seek the "a-ha" moment when the right partners meet, at the right time, and the opportunity presents itself to us all. That's what makes it all worth it!

It is free and confidential and helpful specialists work to assist callers in identifying the resources in their community. NC 2-1-1 is also an important part of the state's disaster response plan and provides easy access to information during times of emergency. Working with the President of UWNC, I oversee the strategic vision and plan to take the NC 2-1-1 system to the next level. NC 2-1-1 is already a great system serving the needs of the people of North Carolina, but the opportunities are endless for how the system can be expanded to reach every citizen of this great State.

FounderFleur Decor Jun 2012 - Jun 2023Fleur Décor takes items we encounter in our daily lives and adds an artistic element to enhance the natural beauty. It all started with our signature flower pots that are embellished with a collection of designs including the honeybee, the dragonfly, and of course, the fleur de lis. Upcycled oyster shells from the NC Coast are turned into beautiful trinket dishes making the perfect gift. The classic Mason jar finds a new life as a vase for flowers from the garden when embellished with a coat of paint and charms around the neck. As founder and artist, I find great joy in creating and sharing these gifts with others.

Director, Charitable Solicitations LicensingNc Department Of The Secretary Of State May 2007 - Aug 2015Manage unit charged with the licensing and registration process for all charitable organizations and professional fundraisers soliciting charitable donations in North Carolina. Oversee enforcement duties of unit and management of investigation process resulting in statutory punishments including financial penalties up to $10,000; order to cease and desist business; revocation of license. Manage staff of eight including a licensing supervisor, an attorney, and an investigator. Hire staff and make staffing changes as necessary; evaluate staff performance; respond to staff concerns. Prepare budget for unit and develop measurements to show unit’s success within budget parameters. Respond to requests from Secretary of State and her Deputies regarding legislation, policy, media requests, staffing concerns, and daily activity of unit. Interact directly with State Legislators and other State Agencies.Represent Secretary of State in public, specifically in targeted audience of regulated population and of citizens. -
