I am a professional youth worker, qualified teacher and experienced charity Chief Executive Officer. I worked at SRYP for 17 years since it began in 1997, first as an area project worker and from 2000 (for 14 years) as the CEO. I moved to Wales in 2014 to work for theOutward Bound Trust as the Head of the Aberdyfi Centre in a period of massive change and re-orientation. In 2016 I took a career break to complete a level 7 in Strategic Management and Leadership with Bangor University. I subsequently worked at The Christian Mountain Centre and Arthog Outdoor Education Centre as Assistant Centre Managers with responsibility for the residential experience of participants. Following my recent redundancy I have entered into the world of self employment and currently offer support and advice to charities and voluntary organisations. I am also studying Bookkeeping and Accounts.My career began as a geography teacher in Northamptonshire followed by 3 years running 2 youth centres in the Cotswolds (Bourton-on-the-Water & Stow-on-the-Wold) and 2 years re-establishing a small youth work charity, the Avon Youth Association. In subsequent years I worked part-time in a variety of youth work posts for Somerset County Council and lectured in Geography at Strode College, Street.In a voluntary capacity I have acted as a University Youth Work course moderator, chaired the Rural Youth Network and Somerset Youth Partnership, acted as a committee member (and acting chair) in the South West for BBC Children in Need and been a charity trustee for Learning South West. I recently completed my term of office as the Chair of the Board of Management for the National Federation of Young Farmers Clubs. I am currently the Treasurer for my local Village Hall (Neuadd Egryn) and a Volunteer Visitor with the Henry Smith Charitable Trust.I live in Gwynedd and am currently learning Welsh. I have an outdoor lifestyle and enjoy the countryside, outdoor pursuits and motorsport. As a family we race and cruise light hovercraft and after 8 years I have recently retired from the position of Chief Marshal for the Hovercraft Club of GB to return to racing.
